About

Projective brings structure to post-production workflows. Its flagship product, Strawberry, is in use throughout the media and entertainment industry. From single post-production agencies through to major broadcast companies and advertising agencies with global working practices, it gives creative users an optimal working environment, while allowing the IT team to manage the storage infrastructure demands for media workflows with extreme effectiveness.

Projective solves the pain of continual managing the overload of shared storage, prevents orphaned or offline media files, removes duplication of files, enables both rushes ingest and project archiving, allow easy re-utilization of clips, and brings together collaborative features across different sites including “Review and Approval” functionality and virtual shared project environments.

Projective with its Strawberry On-Site, Multi-Site, and Skies platform brings project structure to media workflows across a hierarchy of distributed storage devices, while allowing the editors, and other creative users including freelancers, secure ease of access to projects and files. It includes deep integrations for NLE’s, coupled with an enterprise-wide search and view solution, embedded within the user NLE working environment.

ON-SITE POST-PRODUCTION

A single on-premise system allowing the creative and production team in a facility to utilize Strawberry functionality. It allows editors and creatives to work more efficiently in a single project environment that could span across different tiers of storage including cloud and archive platforms.

MULTI-SITE POST-PRODUCTION

A system that spans multiple premises and gives a single unified production environment across all sites. It gives all the workflow management of Strawberry and enables collaboration of single projects across a distributed global workforce and infrastructure.

REMOTE - SKIES

A solution that brings together both cloud and on-prem infrastructure as a hybrid offering. It allows remote users to interact with On-Site/Multi-Site enabling external working, remote editing workflows, and “review and approve” features across a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Features
  • AUTOMATED STRUCTURE

Users spend less time with media management and the storage is “protected” from unauthorized access and duplication.

  • PRODUCTION ASSET MANAGEMENT

Strawberry creates proxies for preview and remote editing. Users can communicate through content with markers and built-in approval workflows.

  • DEEP NLE INTEGRATION

Provides users Adobe plugins to easily access projects and media from Premiere Pro and After Effects. Enables Avidstyle bin locking on standard IT storage.

  • ACCESS CONTROL AND SECURITY

Full user management with access rights control at both project and storage level ensures content security, especially for freelancers. Integrates into AD and LDAP.

  • REMOTE WORKFLOWS

Intuitive & secure tools for remote editing & review and approval workflows. Utilizes hybrid-cloud for borderless collaboration.

  • UNIFIED ARCHIVE

Provides easy-to-use archive tools with integrations into cloud. Enables visual search for production and archived content from a single interface.

  • PROJECT-DRIVEN TEMPLATE

Project-driven templates guarantee consistency, eliminating guesswork and prep time while providing unified structure for editors, designers, producers, freelancers, and external stakeholders.

  • COLLABORATION

Strawberry provides a platform for all stakeholders in a production to contribute and comments are tracked and automatically become searchable metadata.

  • AUTOMATIC STORAGE MANAGEMENT & SECURITY

Strawberry automatically organizes both the ingest and editing storage, so that access can be granularly controlled and freelancers only see the material they should be editing

  • SEARCH ENGINE FOR PROJECT AND MEDIA FILES

Strawberry’s asset management features allow media files to be instantly searched and viewed from any storage platform within the facility, whether it’s online, nearline, cloud or from an archive platform.

  • ADVANCED NLE WORKFLOWS

By creatives, for creatives, Strawberry is deeply integrated with leading creative applications, including from Adobe and Avid. Project sharing, bin locking, and rough cut and remote editing are all possible. And the Adobe panel means that users never need to leave their application environment. Avid Media Composer users can work with generic shared storage, an integrated feature into Strawberry that implements bin locking, ideal for Avid workflow collaboration.

  • DEDUPLICATION TOOLS

Sharing assets between projects via linking reduces waste and “media offline” errors. On top of this Strawberry actively employs file-based deduplication to seamlessly find copies and remove them.

  • ARCHIVAL

By managing everything as a project, archiving or retrieving projects is a very simple administrative task as a one-click process, with quick search and scrub functionality for users to retrieve exactly what they need.

Hardware Requirements

Production Server System

The primary Strawberry production server hosts the Strawberry services & the database. Additionally, it can perform 24/7 proxy encoding. Strawberry services can either run on physical hardware or inside a Virtual Machine.

  • 48 GB RAM
  • 16+ physical CPU cores / 2.4 GHz or faster (Intel or AMD)
  • 2× 500GB SSD (mirrored)
  • Optional: One or more supported NVIDIA GPUs for high-performance proxy encoding (see list below)
  • A dedicated connection to the storage and a dedicated network connection to the client network (10gbit Ethernet or comparable)
  • RHEL 7 or Centos 7, 64 bit
  • RHEL 6 and Centos 6 are no longer supported as they have reached their End Of Lifetime (EOL).

Proxy Encoding Node (Optional)

A proxy encoding node is a dedicated server for 24/7 proxy file creation. A proxy encoding node can either run on physical hardware or inside a Virtual Machine. The Strawberry core server can simultaneously control and load balance multiple proxy encoding nodes. Strawberry supports GPU-based proxy encoding via Nvidia’s NVENC technology, making proxy encoding 200% – 500% faster compared to CPU encoding

  • 24 GB RAM
  • 16+ physical CPU cores / 2.4 GHz or faster (Intel or AMD)
  • 2× 500GB SSD (mirrored)
  • Recommended: One or more supported NVIDIA GPUs for high-performance proxy encoding (see list below)
  • A fast connection between the proxy encoding node and the store storage (10Gbit Ethernet or comparable)
  • An adequate connection between the View encoder node and the Strawberry server for metadata traffic (1Gbit Ethernet)
  • RHEL 7 or Centos 7, 64bit
  • RHEL 6 and Centos 6 are no longer supported as they have reached their End Of Lifetime (EOL).

High Availability Server (Optional)

The High Availability (HA) server must have the same hardware and software properties as the primary Strawberry production server. To ensure optimal availability, the HA server can not be used as a proxy encoding node while it is running in passive mode.
